The developers behind two failed Thornton Park restaurants hope to see their doors open again one day. Graze and Sanctuary Diner were located in the bottom of The Sanctuary Condo Tower in Thornton Park. Despite good reviews, the restaurants both shut down last month, just a couple of months after they opened.
“It was just a victim of the economy right now, a lot of people dining out less and less to conserve funds,” said Ted Maines, interior designer for the Historic Creations Design/Development Group.
Maines said when the restaurant was in the planning stages four years ago, 1,500 condominium units were planned for the area.
“They never got built. It was a question of timing,” Maines said. “We loved the Diner and we loved Graze but we believe they might have been a little ahead of their time.”
He said he’s not giving up on the spaces because the neighborhood needs restaurants for the locals, the kitchens are incredible, and he hopes someone will want to own and operate a restaurant there.
