Why Lady Gaga is a role model for girls

Ah yes, time for another installment where I show you some cool stuff I’ve been reading and update you on what’s going on behind the scenes at Watermark.

First, the article I tease in the title. It’s smart and well-written, and the cherry on top is that it’s written by a high school senior. What do you think? Is Gaga a role model?

Many of you have been following Watermark’s Prop 8 trial coverage. The updates have been almost daily, but I’m giving it a bit of a rest this week because there is so much other stuff going on on the site. I did, however, find some more interesting resources.

Now that cameras are not permitted in the courtroom, this site is doing reenactments of the trial. It’s… even more boring than a real trial, but if you really want to follow along, step by step, that’s probably your best bet.

The next link was sent to me by reader Paul M., who especially got a kick out of this portion, in which the author offers a challenge Prop 8 fan Andrew Pugno:

“If you can tell me that heterosexual couples are able to feel and live with love more deeply than two people of the same sex (and substantiate your case) – I’ll suck your dick on national television. Now, before you get all hot about the blowjob, I get to counter you arguments. I will introduce you to Amy and Cindiman, Cheryl and Kate, Elisa and Megan. These are six women I’m very lucky to have in my life – and they’re lesbians.”

Finally, a little self-indulgence. My favorite TV show of all time forever and ever amen is The Amazing Race, and it’s not the first time they’ve had a gay couple team, but I can only remember one other time they’ve had a lesbian couple… and they’re doing it again this season. (They’re Carol and Brandy, right there on the top left.) Can’t tell whether they look tough or how long they’ll last, but I can tell you I’ll be watching.
