Constance McMillen, who made headlines last month when her school refused to let her bring her girlfriend to prom, got her big night after all. Except â┚¬â€œ it looks like instead of her prom, she attended a cruel joke.
McMillen tells The Advocate that after the school was told they could not exclude her for bringing her girlfriend, a private prom was created. She was told it would be held at a country club, but when she showed up with her date, only five other students were there with the school principal and several teacher chaperones.
Apparently, McMillen's classmates were partying in another location.
The judge did not force the school district to hold a prom that included the lesbian couple because of the private prom, with the understanding that McMillen and her date were invited. The ACLU is looking into what happened.
