Orlando to host national bullying conference
The 2013 School Safety Advocacy Council Conference on Bullying will be held in Orlando Feb. 27- March 1. Several of the breakout sessions focus on LGBT bullying issues. The conference is hosted at the Rosen Centre Hotel. For more information visit SchoolSafety911.org.


More than 250 attend Daytona Reunion
More than 250 LGBTs gathered at The Streamline Hotel and Lodge Nov. 30- Dec. 1 for the Daytona Reunion 2012 weekend. The highlight was The Billie Boots Memorial Benefit, which raised more than $1,300 for the Outreach Community Care Network, a non-profit HIV/AIDS agency. Some of the reunion’s attendees had not seen each other for 30 years.

Man drowns in Rock Lake
An Orlando man drowned after a canoe he was in capsized in Rock Lake Dec. 7. Danny Diaz, 21, and six other people launched the canoe from a private boat ramp between 3-4 a.m. and crossed the lake to a beach behind Parliament House, said police. The boat flipped and Diaz, who did not know how to swim, sank. His body was found about 1,500 feet from shore.
