Minnesota’s Senate has voted 37-30 to approve a bill that adds the state to the growing list of those that allow gay marriage. Next the bill goes to Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton, who has promised to sign the legislation.
This has positioned Minnesota to be the 12th state in the United States to legalize marriage equality.
It would make gay marriage legal in Minnesota starting Aug. 1. The House passed the bill May 9 by a vote of 75-59.
