Tom Daley: ‘I’m a gay man now’

Despite saying that he still has an attraction for women in his coming out video last year, Olympic diver Tom Daley said recently that he is a gay man, not bisexual.

When he came out in December 2013 via a YouTube video, the British athlete told his fans that he was bisexual, adding that “Of course, I still fancy girls.”

But now that the 19-year-old is openly dating Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, 39, Daley only wants to be with me, he told Celebrity Juice.

“I came out on YouTube as I wanted to say what I wanted to say without anyone twisting it,” the bronze medalist explained. “I told my family before I told the world. I was terrified. I did not know what the reaction was going to be. I did it on YouTube because people were constantly digging and asking questions.”

But during the April interview, Daley said, “I’m a gay man now.”

Daley was asked on the show to reveal which celebrities are closeted, but he declined to out any stars who wish to keep their sexual orientation private.

“We don’t all sit down and write down each other’s names,” the bronze medalist said. “It’s not like the AA+. It should not really matter. Nobody should care.”

How are things with Black? “All good,” Daley said of the director and LGBT rights activist.
