If you have young kids, family members with little ones or you’re a child stuck in a grown adult’s body, you’re may be quite familiar with some of those colorful children’s musical groups like the Wiggles or going way back, Raffi.
Sure, they’re fun and poppy and never seem to have a care in the world, but much like the urban legend of Mister Rogers being a former marine covered in tattoos that happened to kill many people in a war, there’s always a dark side. This dark side, much to our entertainment can be seen all unfold on stage with “Bubble Gum Party.”
The show revolves around a family of singers – dad Robbie (Kevin Kriegel), mom Debbie (Summer Aiello) and daughter Abby (Sarah French) – performing at a concert.
The show features original songs that are far from sugar-free. They skillfully deliver an onslaught of tongue-in-cheek humor and sexual innuendos. In the style of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, there’s no limit as to where this comedic trio will go.
From drugs to sexuality to sock puppets, “Bubble Gum Party” certainly didn’t blow. I’m willing to go for a second round despite the dangers of lock-jaw or cavities.
“Bubble Gum Party” is playing at the Brown Venue at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre.
