ST. PETERSBURG | Shoreline DJ, Tampa Bay’s LGBTQ-owned and operated DJ company, will hold a virtual party week April 14-17 to raise funds for LGBTQ and ally establishments in and near the Grand Central District, St. Petersburg’s traditional “gayborhood.”
The fundraisers are a response to COVID-19, which prompted Florida to close bars and nightclubs statewide and limit restaurants exclusively to takeout or delivery orders. Shoreline DJ’s efforts will benefit Old Key West, Punky’s Bar & Grill, The Garage, Lucky Star Lounge and Enigma St. Pete.
“We all miss our Grand Central bars and restaurants (and those adjacent to Grand Central),” Shoreline DJ shared April 13. “We miss the owners, who ask how we’re doing and actually care about our answers. We miss the bartenders, who remember who likes lemon and who likes lime. We miss the servers, who remember who’s on a weird diet, who hates onion and who wants pickles on the side. So this week is devoted to supporting them. All money will be donated to the bars listed in the link.”
Each locale will be represented on a different night and music will be streamed via Twitch.tv/ShorelineDJ, featuring “everything from country music to high energy dance music.”
Donations will benefit that evening’s establishment, go entirely to staff and can be made at this link. Tips to Shoreline DJ will also be accepted.

“We all just miss each other so much,” Shoreline DJ owner Bill Kody says. “It’s hard right now not being in the normal routine. It may never get back to normal but if this helps people it makes me happy.”
