“RENT” casts from across the globe united virtually to salute frontline workers dealing with COVID-19.
The casts performed a rendition of the groundbreaking musical’s “Finale B.” Participants ranged from original Broadway stars to actors in Brazil, Cuba, London, Japan, Spain and more.
Actor Rodney Hicks shared the collaboration May 4. “To all the frontline heroes. From our Global RENT family to you and yours,” the longtime castmember shared. “We did a thing. With a Thousand Sweet Kisses… L O V E.”
“Original Broadway cast members Daphne Rubin-Vega, Fredi Walker-Browne and Tony winner Wilson Jermaine Heredia kick off the tribute to frontline workers,” Broadway.com subsequently reported. “Dozens of longtime ‘RENT’ cast members like Rodney Hicks, Justin Johnston, Karmine Alers, Yassmin Alers, Michael McElroy and more took center screen and to offer their vocals and a glimpse of their lives during quarantine.”
The video also features appearances from former cast members Wilson Cruz, who currently appears on “Star Trek: Discovery,” and “POSE” star MJ Rodriguez. You can check it out in full below, via Hicks, or click the video to watch it on Facebook:
