Former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign will host an LGBTQ engagement call with Florida leaders May 14 from 6-7 p.m. to discuss the 2020 presidential election.
“Join LGBTQ+ for Biden and Florida LGBTQ+ supporters for a kick-off call to discuss Vice President Joe Biden’s plans to advance equality, LGBTQ+ voter outreach, Pride 2020 and ways to bring all LGBTQ+ Floridians into the campaign,” the virtual gathering’s description reads.
The call will be led by Biden for President LGBTQ+ Vote Director Reggie Greer and Florida State Rep. Shevrin Jones. Jones could become the state’s first openly-LGBTQ state senator if elected later this year.
“Biden for President will hold a call with LGBTQ+ leaders in Florida to provide a campaign update and discuss engaging and organizing Florida’s four million and growing equality voters ahead of November,” the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign shared May 13. They also teased the virtual gathering’s other exciting guests.
The call follows the campaign’s LGBTQ+ Social Hour featuring Dr. Jill Biden and Greer late last month, as well as several high profile endorsements from LGBTQ organizations.
The National Center for Transgender Equality endorsed Biden May 5, followed by the Human Rights Campaign May 6. The latter announced their support on the anniversary of Biden’s early, public support of marriage equality in 2012.
