While the pandemic impacted the high school right-of-passage dance known as the prom for many kids in 2020, one prom is still coming your way before year’s end.

“The Prom,” a musical comedy about four down and out Broadway stars who head to small-town Indiana to help a young lesbian couple who want to attend their prom together, is coming to Netflix Dec. 11, and the streaming giant has released the film’s first trailer.

Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman and Andrew Rannells star as the Broadway performers who take on the head of the PTA, played by Kerry Washington, who has banned the couple, played by Jo Ellen Pellman and Ariana DeBose, from attending despite the couple having the support of the school principal, played by Keegan-Michael Key.

Directed by Ryan Murphy, the film is based off the 2018 Broadway musical of the same name. The musical won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical and was nominated for six Tony Awards.
