CLEARWATER, Fla. | Made Coffee, a coffee cannery and brewery based out of Clearwater, Florida, is celebrating Pride month with a new special edition coffee they are calling “Love is Love,” with all proceeds from the blend being donated to the LGBTQ nonprofit, The Dru Project.

The coffee is a Myanmar/Colombia blend which tastes “super juicy, flowery and full of deep fruit flavors,” according to their Instagram post.

“It’s very fruit-forward, really interesting and very different than the normal cup of coffee that most consumers would be used to,” says Taylor Prater, co-founder and brand manager of Made Coffee. “We wanted to do something different and have fun with it. It’s an amazing cup of coffee.”

Although the special edition blend was released to celebrate Pride month, Made Coffee hopes to be able to sell it year-round.

“We may have to change the coffees that go into it because the crop will eventually run out as that’s the nature of things but we would like to be able to offer the ‘Love is Love’ blend all year,” Prater says.

The Dru Project launched in 2017 and was designed to help promote Gay Straight Alliances in schools across the country. It is named after Christopher “Drew” Leinonen, one of the 49 victims of the 2016 Pulse tragedy. The Dru Project’s mission is to honor Leinonen’s legacy by empowering LBGTQ youth to be leaders and create a safe, empowered environment in schools.

“We hope that the sale of these bags can do some good for The Dru Project and I hope people are able to enjoy our coffee, knowing they are helping an important cause,” Prater says.

Made Coffee’s “Love is Love” blend is available to purchase at Hawthorne Bottle Shoppe and Pete’s General + Bakery, both in St. Petersburg, or online at DrinkMadeCoffee.com. For more information on The Dru Project, visit TheDruProject.org.
