Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ronan Farrow continues his reporting on Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s rape and sexual assault allegations with a new HBO documentary series.
“Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes” is a six-part documentary created around the recordings of Farrow’s 12-episode podcast, “The Catch and Kill Podcast with Ronan Farrow,” which is based on Farrow’s 2019 best-selling book — called “Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators” — about Farrow’s groundbreaking reporting and investigation into Weinstein, which helped to kickstart the #MeToo movement.
Farrow’s series features “revealing” interviews with whistleblowers, journalists, private investigators and other sources that expose both powerful predators and the systems that help cover them up.
The phrase “Catch and Kill” comes from the practice, usually used by tabloid media, of buying the exclusive rights to “catch” a damaging story then “killing” it for the benefit of the third party, preventing it from ever being published.
“Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes” is directed and produced by Emmy-winners Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato with Farrow as an executive producer. It was also produced by Mona Card and Unjin Lee as well as produced and edited by Francy Kachler.
HBO released two episodes per week starting on July 12. The first four episodes are currently available on HBO Max with the last two episodes (“The Editors” and “The Spy”) set to release July 26.
