Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile is set to release a concert special with HBO entitled BRANDI CARLILE: IN THE CANYON HAZE – LIVE FROM LAUREL CANYON. The concert will be released on MAX on July 1 and was recorded in 2022.
The nine-time Grammy winner’s special is set to include songs from her hit album “In These Silent Days” that have been reimagined. She also performs songs from other artists who inspired her career and voice, including David Bowie.
The concert was recorded at Los Angeles’ historic Laurel Canyon neighborhood and was directed by Sam Wrench, who also directed the Lizzo concert special on MAX.
Carlile’s music spans multiple genres, including classic and folk rock, Americana and alternative country. She has been making music for nearly 20 years, and came out publicly as a lesbian in 2002.
She won her first Grammy in 2016, and would go on to win eight more, most recently in 2023. She is the first female songwriter to receive two Grammy nominations for Song of the Year in the same year, with “Right on Time” and “A Beautiful Noise” in 2022.
In addition to her music career, she is also an author and activist. Carlile has been an advocate for health issue awareness, women’s empowerment and LGBTQ+ rights.
