ORLANDO | The Center Orlando announced on Feb. 13 that they will be continuing the Singhaus Scholarship Fund for a second year.
The Singhaus Scholarship for the Performing Arts serves as a tribute to the creative and generous spirit of the Singhaus Family. The funds provide financial assistance to elevate young talent in pursuit of a career in theatre.
The fund aims to support members of the LGBTQ community and considers candidates who have specific financial needs, such as aid in purchasing a new sewing machine, vocal coaching, dance training, etc.
In 2022, the Singhaus Fund awarded $10,000 in youth scholarships and hopes to double that amount in 2023.
Applications for students will be opening this week and a Singhaus Oscar Party fundraising event will be held on March 12.
To further raise funds, Eddie Cooper, Karen Brown, Neil Hamilton and The Center will host the Singhaus Oscar Party at the Winter Park Library Events Center. The evening will be presented by Art in Voyage Travel and will include light snacks, raffles, a silent auction and entertainment by hosts Ginger Minj and Gidget Galore. Individual tickets for this event are $45, and proceeds benefit the Singhaus Scholarship Fund and The Center.
Scholarships will be awarded at the Center’s 11th Annual Diversity Lunch & Awards on July 28. Interested students can apply on the Singhaus Scholarship at SinghausScholarship.org.
