Flamingo Resort is a go
Watermark has received confirmation that the Flamingo Resort will open later this summer. After running an item in this section in our last issue, we received a phone call from the Broadwater Homeowners Civic Association, which is near the 34th Street South location. According to the association, David Baker and David Reinhardt have completely renovated the former Knight’s Inn, including its rooms, the pool and the lounge. The two Davids, one of which will live on site, reportedly met with the association earlier in June to discuss their plans for the property, which is about a mile south of the old Suncoast Resort site. The new resort, complete with a full restaurant, is scheduled to open sometime in August.
PARC reaches out to LGBTs
The Pinellas Association for Retarded Citizens has begun actively reaching out to the LGBT community of St. Petersburg. Megan Hamm, coordinator of the 66th Street Thrift Store in Pinellas Park, contacted Watermark to open communications with the LGBT community. Hamm, a “family member” herself, said the organization has always prided itself on diversity and has many LGBT employees.
