The second annual GaYbor Days celebration got off to a powerful start on June 29 with the help of Hilsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner presented two proclamations honoring the GaYbor Days celebration in Ybor City before a showing of Misconceptions, part of the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. The proclamation from the Tampa City Council had the signatures of every member and the County Commission’s proclamation had four commissioners’ signatures.
Since its inception in 2008, GaYbor Days has evolved from a weekend event into an entire week of activities. The film showing was part of the kick-off ceremonies for the festival, which stretched through the Fourth of July Weekend.
The annual festival is scheduled to return again in 2010.
