Rick Kriseman visits TBBG
The Tampa Bay Business Guild pulled in a high-profile speaker—and long-term member—when State Rep. Rick Kriseman spoke at the group’s monthly dinner meeting on Oct. 20. Kriseman told those attending the dinner at Feather Sound Country Club that he is continuing to work hard in Tallahassee to bring equality to the LGBT community of the state. “The adoption ban is horrendous and the passage of Amendment 2 was just awful,” Kriseman said. He encouraged attendees to contact legislators regarding LGBT laws, but offered a tip in doing so. “If you send us a form e-mail it’s likely we won’t see those,” Kriseman said. “Tell us your personal story because we actually have filters on our e-mail systems that file form letters to a different folder.” Kriseman, a former St. Petersburg City Council member also spoke about the upcoming St. Petersburg election. He encouraged voting, but did not endorse either mayoral candidate.

Six Pak returns to Florida to win title
Male impersonator Six Pak, who recently moved with wife Sasha to Las Vegas, returned to the Tampa Bay area recently to compete in the Mr. Florida U.S. of A Male Impersonation competition at Waterside Landing. He won, and it is the first contest title he as ever held. The performer, best known for his Kid Rock impersonations, competed against several other male impersonators in talent, fashion and question categories before taking the top prize. The win means Six Pak will compete in Mr. U.S. of A Male Impersonation competition in Oklahoma early next year.

Queens Head has grand opening

Okay, so the Queens Head Pub along St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District has technically been open for nearly three months, but that doesn’t mean the restaurant can’t celebrate its opening any time it wants. The popular new gay-owned and “straight-welcoming” hotspot held its grand opening celebration on Saturday, Oct. 24 and featured drink specials and plenty of go-go boys to give customers some eye candy. Queens Head is open for dinner and offers live entertainment for the late-night crowd.
