The head of an anti-bullying group says she glad to hear that an Arkansas school board member who posted an anti-gay rant on Facebook is resigning.
Midland school board member Clint McCance announced his resignation Thurday night on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” after drawing criticism for posting that he thinks gay youths should kill themselves.
McCance said he was quitting “to help my school, my community,” though he added that he might run again for the board at some point.
Jowharah Sanders is founder and executive director of the anti-bullying group National Voices for Equality, Education, and Enlightenment. She says the resignation means McCance’s sentiments will no longer represent authority in his community.
