Sarasota actors/productions get notoriety
Sarasota isn’t called the “City of the Arts” for nothing—and the LGBT influence there goes without saying. So while we’re proud, we’re not surprised that two well-known theater companies were honored at the October 30 Florida Theatre Conference in Lakeland. Actor Jeremy Guerro earned the top acting award for his performance in Venice Theatre’s production of I Am My Own Wife. The “Best Actor” played 17 characters in a 60-minute festival version of the play back in January of this year. The Manatee Players were also honored at the conference with a “Best Production” award for its presentation of Sunday In The Park With George. The production was performed for an audience of nearly 300 at the Youkey Theatre within the Lakeland Center. Congrats to all of the winners!

A bunch of “Poppycock”
Continuing the tradition of swooping up celebrities in the early moments of their fame, Ybor City has added America’s Got Talent finalist Prince Poppycock to its list of impressive guests. The painted, costumed opera singer is scheduled to perform live at Steam Fridays on Friday, Nov. 26. We’re sure the openly gay performer will put on an amazing show on the gorgeous Honey Pot stage. Prince Poppycock comes just a week or two after YouTube comedian and hottie Craigery Morgan performed at G. Bar—and remember, Lady Gaga graced the stage of the Ritz Ybor before she went viral a few years back.

The Gay Seas
As this issue of Watermark hits the streets of Florida, our publisher, Tom Dyer, and other LGBT media heads are enjoying a cruise through the Caribbean with Al and Chuck Travel. The dynamic LGBT travel agents invited members of the LGBT press to board a cruise ship for an extended weekend of fun, sun, and a few conferences. The experience will no doubt cover new media strategies, partnerships and how to cater to the needs of LGBTs in Florida.
