MCC Tampa fundraisers continue
More and more groups are coming together to raise money for the Metropolitan Community Church of Tampa. Nikos Restaurant in Oldsmar had a successful fundraiser with the singers of Talent Quest Florida and Talent Quest Sunshine State on Nov. 21 and raised more than $300 for the church. Another variety-style show featuring the finalists of Chelsea Idol Karaoke contest and national Talent Quest performers is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 12, at Chelsea Night Club in Tampa. In addition to monetary donations, the bar is looking for donations for a Chinese auction to raise additional funds. MCC Tampa’s air conditioning unit was vandalized in October and stripped of its copper. The church needs to raise $12,000 to replace it. Truly dinner and a show
It’s Thanksgiving and that means the holidays are in full swing—and so is the increased need for food. The Gorilla Theatre is stepping up to make the holidays for some of Tampa Bay’s needier families by offering a “Pay what you can” and food drive Through Nov. 28. The company’s comedy, Christmas Stopping runs throughout the weekend and those who bring a non-perishable food item can simply “Pay what they can” rather than full ticket price. Charlie’s out of bankruptcy
It looks like things are looking up for Streetcar Charlie’s in Ybor City. The popular restaurant and hangout on 15th Street has emerged from bankruptcy unscathed. According to an announcement at a recent GaYbor District Coalition meeting, the restaurant is back on its own feet and should continue to bring food and libations to the community for the foreseeable future. The company had filed bankruptcy earlier this year, but the filing never interfered with its day-to-day operations. Congratulations Streetcar Charlie’s!
