The Dancer is the Owner
It’s official! Mr. Sisters celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, Dec. 16 with a gala “Dine, Dance & Dream” benefit for the Hope and Help Center. DJ Lady Bunny was a low-profile celebrity draw, but there was plenty to look at in the 6,000 sq. ft. facility, including state-of-the-art high tech electronica and requisite scantily clad dancers. And Mr. Sisters may be the only bar where the hottest dancer of them all is one of the owners! Dressed in yellow speedo, Brian Humphries made good use of a strategically placed stripper pole throughout the night. The Orlando Sisters were on hand to bless the bar, its staff and backers. It must’ve worked. Word has it that Mr. Sisters has been busy ever since.

New Gig for Wanzie
Iconic Orlando theater personality Michael Wanzie has a new gig—directing a national tour showcasing top YouTube personalities sponsored by Stir Fry TV. Stir Fry, which bills itself as the hottest online variety entertainment network, has chosen wisely. If Wanzie can corral the considerable but varied talents of Doug Ba’aser, Tommy Wooten, Miss Sammy and Carol Lee into a cohesive show, YouTube should be a breeze. The new gig prevents Wanzie from helping stage a flash mob to promote local tourism in January. A huge “Hallellujah Chorus” flash mob at Orlando International Airport last Saturday at 3:45 p.m. featured members of the Messiah Choral Society and the Bach Festival Choir. If Wanzie or anyone else wants to watch, they can visit… YouTube.

New Years at The Mezz

Looking to make last-minute plans for New Years Eve? One of the hottest tickets in town is Florida Theatrical’s big bash at The Mezz, downtown Orlando’s new urban event space on the fifth floor of The Sanctuary. The dazzling venue designed by steted INTERIORS will be the star attraction. But the $125 ticket includes open bar, party favors, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a midnight champagne toast and live entertainment by Nitesol. Florida Theatrical’s Ron Legler and steted’s Ted Maines and Steve Kodsi are inviting everyone they know—so expect it to be one of the biggest, gayest, classiest events of the new 2011.
