St. Pete Pride announces theme, grand marshal
The theme for the 2011 St. Pete Pride Street Festival will be â┚¬Å”One Dayâ┚¬Â¦Ã¢â”šÂ¬Ã‚ The board voted on the theme during its March meeting as a way to express hope for an inclusive future. During the same meeting, the board agreed to invite the Rev. Troy Perry, the founder of the Metropolitan Community Church, to be this year's promenade Grand Marshal.
Beckner launches re-election campaign
Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner has launched his re-election campaign for 2012 and is looking for donations. The county's first out commissioner won his seat in 2008 and has continued to be an advocate for LGBT equality and fiscal responsibility in county government.
