Film fest to highlight LGBT features

Film lovers will get a chance to celebrate LGBT cinema at the Fabulous Independent Film Festival coming to Sarasota in August.

The new one-day festival will showcase four feature-length films and four short films with LGBT story lines beginning at 2 p.m. Aug. 27. The festival is in association with Sarasota Pride and is organized by Broken Rules Productions.

According to a press release, films on the schedule include eCupid, a romantic comedy featuring Morgan Fairchild, and Leave It On The Floor, an independent feature musical set in Los Angeles. Short films include a music video by local music quartet MeteorEYES and the short Australian film Baby Cake. A more complete schedule will be released July 11.

All films will be shown inside the Gompertz Theatre in downtown Sarasota.

Tickets are $8 per film and festival passes are available. An after party at Selva Grill will close the Aug. 27 celebration and will feature a live performance by MeteorEYES.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For details and a full schedule, visit FabulousIFF.com.
