LGBT supporter running for Congress
A Miami Beach state representative who has been a consistent backer of LGBT-supportive policies has announced he is running for Congress. Luis Garcia passed several pro-LGBT policies while serving on the Miami Beach city commission and has been a continued supporter in Tallahassee. Garcia will run against incumbent David Rivera.
Firefighter accused of sexting teen charged
A Miami Dade firefighter accused of sending sex texts to a 17-year-old boy has been charged with 17 counts of transmitting harmful material to a minor. Ulises Rodriguez, 35, was exposed when the teenager was found dead, causes undetermined. The investigation revealed the texts. The last message was June 22, two days before the teen was found dead. Police say it appeared the two had a prior sexual relationship.
Fort Lauderdale wants gay newlyweds
Tourism officials in Fort Lauderdale are stepping up efforts to attract gay couples just married in New York. Several hotels are offering honeymoon packages, and the tourism bureau placed an ad in the New York Times that read, â┚¬Å”After your I Do’s Consider Our Proposalâ┚¬Â which offered a chance to win a free honeymoon in Ft. Lauderdale.
