My Fair Lady GUY
Everyone's favorite Disco Diva has been hustling all over town and has some big projects coming up with some big news for 2012. Most recently, Lady GUY contributed a story to Drag Stories, a fundraising book for MillionHugs.com. He can soon be seen in the Leigh Shannon movie, filmed here in Orlando, My Fair Lidy. LG also told Watermark about a pilot he taped for a possible new reality show coming to Central Florida. â┚¬Å”I have not told anybody about the next big thing,â┚¬Â says LG, but he assures all will be revealed in January. The singular spectacled superstar has been in Orlando more than a decade and has built a name by being the party-starter at nightclubs throughout Central Florida, including Parliament House and Revolution.
Turkey Burglars
Someone must really like turkey. Sometime overnight on Monday Nov. 21, 25 turkeys were stolen from a food truck outside JoyMCC. The turkeys were part of the church's yearly food bag stuffing for the less fortunate. Rev. Lisa Heilig of Joy MCC said they were stunned but didn't want to call the police. The only thing they could think of was that one of the three doors on the truck was unlocked since there were no signs of a break-in. â┚¬Å”All we can hope is that whoever took them really needed them,â┚¬Â she said. Instead of dwelling, parishioners went to Publix and purchased 25 more birds in order to ensure that all of the 350 bags would be filled. â┚¬Å”We lived up to our commitments and trekked on,â┚¬Â said Heilig. For the past 19 years, Joy MCC has been creating their Bags of Joy. â┚¬Å”We appreciate all of the great support from our community.â┚¬ÂÂ
A Cracked Christmas Carol
Beginning Nov. 17, Wanzie’s GLITTERING A STAR-STUDDED A CHRISTMAS CAROL: A Dickens Inspired Celebrity Cavalcade Holiday Spectacle graces the Footlight Theater at Parliament House once again. Audiences are treated to a one-of-a-kind on stage debacle when the stars of the show (some living, some dead), all inappropriate in manner and dress, refuse to completely divest themselves of their Hollywood and Broadway personas as they attempt to embody the characters created by Charles Dickens. Outlandish musical numbers and irrepressible improvisation abound thanks to Michael Wanzie, Carol Lee, Miss Sammy, Doug Da'aser and Gidget Galore. For tickets, visit Wanzie.com
