Orlando: Little Miss Perfect

Miss'd America
Orlando's own Chantel Reshae has been chosen amongst the 15 hopefuls from across the country for this year's Miss'd America Pageant on Jan. 21 in Atlantic City. More than 1,500 people are expected to attend this eleganza extravaganza hosted by Carson Kressley and musical performances by Martha Wash. Reshae, a 17 year drag veteran, is the only Florida-based contestant. â┚¬Å”I want to thank the committee for allowing me to be a part of this event,â┚¬Â Reshae says. The Miss’d America Pageant was started in 1991 the Sunday after the Miss America Pageant (which used to be held in Atlantic City) as a fun but very competitive way to raise money for local LGBT charities. The competition now benefits The Greater Atlantic City GLBT Alliance, which provides economic, social and political advocacy of LGBT and LGBT-supportive business and citizens in the greater Atlantic City region. Reshae can be seen every Tuesday night at Banana’s Diner for Broadway night. For more info on Miss'd America, visit Acglbt.org

24 Hours with the Mouse
Disney representatives announced Jan. 2 they’re planning a “marathon of fun” for their One More Disney Day event on Feb. 29, when the Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland in California will stay open for a full 24 hours. Guests will be welcomed from 6 a.m. on Feb. 29 to 6 a.m. on March 1. The 24-hour event is centered around 2012’s leap day and was announced on Dick Clarke’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on Saturday night. Disney also launched OneMoreDisneyDay.com, where a Disney parks vacation will be given away daily. The website features a countdown to the event and asks visitors, “What would you do with one more day at Disney?” The promotion revolves around the idea that there is an extra day of theme parking in a leap year.
