Gay rights group upset over manager's homophobic rant

The European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation filed an official complaint against notorious Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho for using homophobic slurs while yelling at officials.

The 49-year-old manager reportedly called the officials â┚¬Å”maricones,â┚¬Â which translates to â┚¬Å”faggotsâ┚¬Â in English.

The EGLSF reports that Mourinho used the word before the UEFA Champions League tie against CSKA Moscow. Co-president of the EGLSF, Louise Englefield has asked UEFA to take action over Mourinho's insulting language, which was broadcast on the Spanish television channel Quatro.

â┚¬Å”Homophobia is unacceptable from anyone in football, much less from one of the game’s most senior figures,â┚¬Â Englefield said. â┚¬Å”We are deeply disappointed that Mr. Mourinho is casually using homophobic terms of abuse in his workplace.â┚¬Â

Englefield said that it was because of Mourinho that the â┚¬Å”International Football v Homophobia weekâ┚¬Â was inspired.
