Ellen DeGeneres receives Walk of Fame star

Ellen DeGeneres is making history once again, by receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The actress, comedian and talk show house made history first in 1986, when she became the first female comedian to be invited by Johnny Carson to come to the guest couch after making her debut stand-up performance on â┚¬Å”The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.â┚¬Â

She made history again in 1997, when her character came out during a special hour-long episode of DeGeneres’ show Ellen, making it the first prime-time sitcom to feature a gay leading character. About 42 million people watched the much-hyped episode.

DeGeneres has hosted her nationally syndicated afternoon talk show, â┚¬Å”The Ellen DeGeneres Show,â┚¬Â since 2003. The show kicks off its tenth season Sept. 10 and has six Daytime Emmy Awards for outstanding talk show, while DeGeneres has earned four Emmys for outstanding talk show host.

DeGeneres’ star is the 2,477th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

She’s been married to actress Portia de Rossi since 2008.
