Pit Stop was selected as one of the “Next” films for Sundance. Films in this category are pure, bold works distinguished by an innovative, forward-thinking approach to storytelling.
However, Pit Stop was a bit of a disappointment. While showing real life situations between a divorced gay man still living with his ex-wife and daughter out of a “sense of duty”and another gay man who has recently separated from his younger lover, the film was slow and didn’t give this viewer an opportunity to really get to know either character. It was difficult to feel any compassion for either.
Some would debate that each character finally accepts the reality of their lives and they begin to move forward with their seek for love.
It concludes with the two men, who live in the same town and have multiple missed casual meetings, hooking up via the Internet. Each appears to come to terms with their lives and we are left to imagine that a budding new relationship might begin to grow.
