Orlando – Teams from Orlando and Tampa Bay fared extremely well at the 15th annual Orlando Meltdown Softball Tournament held the weekend of Jan. 17. Teams representing each are took first in all four divisions.
According to tournament director Kyle Gaither, more than 700 players from across the country participated in the annual tournament held at the Lake Fairview Softball Complex and the Seminole County Softball Complex.
In the C-Division, City Side of Tampa took the first place trophy after beating the second place Orlando Fury. Third place went to Felicias of Fort Lauderdale.
The Dog Pound of Tampa won first in the D-Division and Orlando’s Flower Power came in second. Muff n Stuff of Orlando placed third in that division.
Orlando dominated the Women’s Competitive division by placing two teams in the top three. Cleats & Cleavage of Orlando took first while Kryptonite of Orlando finished third. The second place trophy went to the Fort Lauderdale Sol Rebels.
And in the Women’s Recreational Division, Catch This of Orlando took first when they beat Last Call of Fort Lauderdale in the finals. The third place team in that division was the Orlando Geckos.
