Nothing says warm welcome like a bunch of naked protesters.
An anti-gay political party in Kenya has vowed to let it all hang out as a personal greeting to President Obama, who will be visiting June 22-23, according to USA Today.
Their goal is to show Obama the physical differences between a man and a woman.
The idea for the nude greeting wasn’t just formed out of thin air. According to a statement by the Republican Liberty Party, published by the Nairobi Times, the naked protesters are taking a stand against “Obama’s open and aggressive support for homosexuality.”
And where does one find 5,000 naked people who oppose gay rights, you ask? According to Republican Liberty Party leader Kidaha Vincent, the protesters are volunteer sex workers.
Vincent claims the sex workers have agreed to protest because they are afraid they will lose work if homosexuality is legalized. That’s because life for gays in Kenya is so oppressive, those seeking intercourse often turn to proposition.
Gay acts are illegal in Kenya, and carry punishments of up to 14 years in prison. In response to US Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage, Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto said, “Those who want to engage in those things can go to those countries and not ours.”
While Obama has been advised to avoid speaking about gay rights on his trip, he’s claimed he has no intentions of ignoring the issue and will continue to speak out, according to USA Today.
The demonstration is set to take place at Freedom Corner in Nairobi’s Uhuru Park.
