Some of the biggest names in drag have come together to bring a digital drag festival to homes across the globe as a majority of people in the U.S. and around the world are holdup in their homes due to COVID-19.
“Digital Drag Fest 2020,” presented by Producer Entertainment Group (PEG) and the digital concert service Stageit.com, brings dozens of drag and LGBTQ entertainers together in one virtual location and allows you to watch them perform from the safety of your home.
“Drag is about resilience, and this festival is meant to share that message during a challenging time in our world,” said David Charpentier, PEG founder and president, in a press release. “We want to give fans an opportunity to continue supporting their favorite queens and provide a welcome distraction for drag lovers around the globe,” he continued.
“Digital Drag Fest 2020” began March 27 and runs through April 12 and will feature some of the biggest names in drag today; including Alaska, BenDeLaCreme, Jinkx Monsoon, Jujubee, Miz Cracker, Monét X Change, Nina West, Peppermint, Sharon Needles, Trinity The Tuck and more.
Drag Fest is also bringing two of Central Florida’s most iconic queens — Ginger Minj and Gidget Galore — together in one show, “Showtunes & Shit with Ginger and Gidget” for a performance filled with fun, laughs and Broadway.
Minj and Galore came together for the first performance of “Showtunes & Shit” on March 28 and due to the popularity of the first sold out show, another performance has been scheduled for April 6 at 2 p.m. EST.
So, how can you watch “Showtunes & Shit,” and any other shows from Drag Fest? It’s as simple as logging onto Stageit.com/DigitalDragFest. Each 30-minute show will run you $10 per household and “will be a once in a lifetime experience, which will never be recorded or re-released.”
“Singing, cooking, comedy, lip syncing and drama are just some of the elements that will be showcased in this festival. Tickets will be extremely limited, to keep audience sizes small and the experience intimate, with opportunities to interact with artists, tip them and potentially be awarded prizes and giveaways,” the press release reads.
Minj and Galore filmed a promo for the encore performance of “Showtunes & Shit,” which they say will be completely different than the first show, which you can watch below.
