ST. PETERSBURG | Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg will visit Tampa Bay Oct. 28 to encourage voters to support former Vice President Joe Biden in the Nov. 3 general election.

Buttigieg endorsed Biden for president earlier this year following his own presidential bid, in which he became the first openly gay man to win presidential delegates. He will meet with fellow veterans during a Veterans for Biden Early Vote event in Tampa before headlining a Pride at the Polls gathering in St. Petersburg.

“On Wednesday, October 28, less than a week from election day, former presidential candidate and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg will travel to Tampa and St. Petersburg to get out the vote,” organizers shared in a press release. “Buttigieg will engage with veterans in Tampa, emphasizing the importance of this election and Joe Biden’s plan for American veterans.

“He will then go to St. Petersburg where he will host a Pride at the Polls event, encouraging supporters to vote early and mobilizing the LGBTQ+ community to get out the vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” they concluded.

Pride at the Polls will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Pinellas County Clerk of Court Building. Buttigieg will be joined at Pride at the Polls by LGBTQ ally Rep. Charlie Crist and State Rep. Jennifer Webb, each up for re-election Nov. 3, as well as State Rep.-Elect Michele Rayner.

Webb became the first openly LGBTQ woman elected to the state legislature in 2018 and Rayner made history earlier this year by becoming the first Black, openly LGBTQ woman to be elected. Along with Buttigieg and Crist, they are expected to engage with LGBTQ voters to encourage them to vote.
