With over 2.3 million likes and 55,000 comments, social media blew up following his post. Fans seemed to feel just as happy for the actor as he did for himself. Hollywood stars including Miley Cyrus, Julianne Moore and some old co-stars commented on his post highlighting his happiness most of all.
“You look amazing,” Nina Dobrev wrote, and also commented, “And most of all happy.”
Supporters also took to Twitter to praise Page for being an authentic role model for LGBTQ youth.
There’s no one “right way” to be queer, trans and/or non-binary.
Whether it’s Elliot Page or Demi Lovato or Sam Smith, the more different high-profile folks who come out and express it in different ways, the more role models kids will have to point to and say “that’s like me!”

Elliot Page looks so happy in his new pic!!!! We love to see it. This is what we need to see more of and what the media rarely shows: trans joy and prosperity. pic.twitter.com/gsVEnmHlwx

The Oscar-nominated actor sat down and spoke with Oprah Winfrey on AppleTV+’s “The Oprah Conversation” about coming out as transgender and how having top surgery has given him “euphoria in my body.”
“It’s getting out of the shower and the towel’s around your waist and you’re looking at yourself in the mirror and you’re just like, ‘There I am’. And I’m not having the moment where I’m panicked,” the 34-year-old said during the interview.
The “Umbrella Academy” actor said the surgery has been “life-changing” and feels that it’s also the case for many others.
“I wanted to share with people just how much it has changed my life,” Page said in the interview. “It’s being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body for probably the first time.”
