Tony Bennett recently celebrated his 95th birthday with live performances at Radio City Music Hall Aug. 3-5 performing alongside Lady Gaga. Their event, “One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga,” sold out within a day of going on sale to the public.
The concert was just the beginning of the duos promotion of their upcoming album, Bennett’s final studio recording, that will feature classics from the Cole Porter songbook. “Love For Sale” consists of 12 tracks and is set to release Oct. 1 via Columbia Records/Interscope Records. It was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City and consists of a mix of jazz ensemble, big band and orchestral arrangements. At the time of the sessions, Bennett had already been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, a condition the family made public in a disclosure earlier this year.
Their first single from the album is the classic song “I Get A Kick Out Of You.” Gaga and Bennett premiered their music video Aug. 6.
This is the second album that Gaga and Bennett collaborated on. In 2014, the duo released “Cheek to Cheek,” an album of jazz standards. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went on the win the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
In celebrate of Bennett’s 95th birthday, Gaga has asked fans to post videos to their Instagram Reels using the hashtag #Tonys95thBdayCard naming one thing they love about him. After choosing her favorites and editing them together, she will present the video to Bennett highlighting 95 reasons she and her fans love him.
