ORLANDO | Keep Orlando Beautiful returned to SeaWorld’s Ports of Call for the eighth annual Trash 2 Trends fashion event Feb. 5.
The fundraising event, called “an evening of recycled fashion,” brought together more than two dozen artists and designers who created high-end-inspired fashion made from materials that would have otherwise been discarded in a landfill.
This year’s designers used everything they could find from bottle caps, tin cans and trash bags to an outfit entirely paint from paint and another made from broken glass.
The event, emceed by Central Florida entertainer Doug Ba’aser and the Orlando Sentinel’s Scott Maxwell, began with a tribute to fashion icon Marcy Singhaus and drag legend Sam Singhaus, aka Miss Sammy, who both passes away in 2020. After a video featuring photos of the duo, models strutted the runway wearing some of Marcy and Sam’s most iconic looks.
Trash 2 Trends is an annual fundraiser for Keep Orlando Beautiful, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization certified as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, that “strives to engage, educate and empower the community to take pride in their environment.”
