ST. PETERSBURG | St Pete Pride will name 20 grand marshals for its landmark 20th celebration this June.
“In celebration of St Pete Pride’s 20th anniversary we will be honoring 20 members of the community,” the nonprofit announced April 29. “This year’s grand marshals will represent the past, present and future of the LGBTQ+ community in Tampa Bay.”
Honorees will be chosen by the community the organization serves and its St Pete Pride Board of Directors. Nominations are being accepted through May 14 and nominees “should have made outstanding contributions and commitment to the Tampa Bay LGBTQ community.”
Individuals and organizations who primarily reside in or are headquartered within the seven counties of Tampa Bay may be nominated. They must self-identify as LGBTQ or an ally who has “demonstrated outstanding contributions to the Tampa Bay LGBTQ community.”
Only nonprofit or not-for-profit organizations are eligible to be nominated. They must also be “active in the community with a current board of directors or membership.”
“Whether their work is in social justice, health & wellness, education, civil rights, economic equality, or community-building, we want to honor those who are seen as role models, motivators, change-makers and leaders,” St Pete Pride notes.
Grand marshals can be nominated here. The nominee’s name, email address and the reason for which they’re nominated are all required; the nominee’s phone number is optional.
“Although everyone loves surprises, this unfortunately cannot be one,” St Pete Pride explains. “All individuals and groups must be notified of their nomination in advance by the person(s) nominating them and then given the right to deny or accept the nomination.”
Once St Pete Pride determines that the nominees are eligible, they will be voted on by the community May 20-June 2. The grand marshals will subsequently be announced June 3. Read more and make your nominations below:
