“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” — John Lennon

I’m happy to start off this posting by announcing that the donations are rolling in! By the end of the week depicted in the following photo essay, my moustache had collected $160! Unbeknownst to me, whenever a Citizen of Movember raises $100, they receive a ticket to one of the Gala Partés celebrating the end of the month formally known as November. Unfortunately the galas are happening in distant cities, so it isn’t likely I’ll be able to afford making the hop at this point in time, still earning the ticket is a groovy thing!

MovDayEight_209973909.jpgMy other half Brendan has pretty much assumed the role of art director for the chronicling of my moustache. Each day I whine that I have no creative ideas for the picture, then he comes up with one instantaneously.

Day 8: The glasses are an eight, get it? I didn’t shave on this day, but it had more to do with being lazy than growing my ’stach. I’m wearing the Movember t-shirt that Livestrong has put out. Check out the website to see the many different styles of shirts available.

MovDayNine_709835673.jpgDay 9: I had a job interview on this day. Can you imagine? There’s just a bunch of fuzziness on my face at this point! So I started out the interview by talking about the elephant in the room (at least it felt that way to me). I gave each of the two gentlemen a mini-flyer and we spoke briefly about men’s health. And, before you ask, no, I haven’t heard back from them, but I don’t blame my moustache.

Day 10: I used a 10 spot for this day. Subliminal message? Perhaps. I took this while at work — that MovDayTen_826639538.jpgis not to imply that Hard Rock endorses my moustache. They do, however, do other cool things like supporting Why.

MovDayElev_367484807.jpgDay 11: In this one I’m holding a piece of the house that Brendan and I first lived in. Under my hands is “01.” No, I didn’t yank the piece off the house, they rebuilt the porch just before we moved. This was Veteran’s Day, so we went out with my dad. At one point he told Brendan that I had grown a Fu Manchu before. This is my first moustache.MovDayTwelve_178898743.jpg

Day 12: This crazy wig is the one Brendan wore for Halloween. It’s a huge thing and he is over 6 foot tall, so you can imagine. The wig made me feel like Shaft, but I probably look more like a pimp he’d shoot.

MovDayThirteen_278828469.jpgDay 13: Friday the 13th and I’m tempting fate. That thing’s really getting bushy.

Day 14: Can you believe my dedication to making the world a better place? Getting a tattoo for Day 14!?! MovDayFourteen_968137814.jpgOkay, it’s drawn on…but it is with a Sharpie. On this day, a co-worker said I was “rockin’ that beard.” I took the compliment instead of pointing out that it’s a moustache, and it gave me an opportunity to explain why the facial hair is there.

Be sure to visit my Mo Space to see daily pictures, check out the growing list of donors, and to rate my moustache!
