Kelly Rowland backs out of weekend concert

There's a major, last-minute change for Evolve, the concert fundraiser for Come Out With Pride (COWP) scheduled for Mr. Sisters over Gay Days weekend.

Scheduled performer Kelly Rowland has backed out of the June 3 event.

She stepped down because she just signed a gig in the UK with Simon Cowell for a new show being filmed right now called The X Factor,â┚¬Â said Mikael Audebert, COWP Executive Director and Senior Executive Producer.

Rowland will be replaced by a joint performance by Kristine W and Kimberly Locke on Friday night.

â┚¬Å”When booking talent, there's a clause in the contract that says the talent can always pull out at the last minute without giving specific reasons, so we always have a contingency plan,â┚¬Â said Audebert. â┚¬Å”We also have a wonderful team that got together and in less than 24 hours was able to come back with those two amazing artists to replace another amazing artist.â┚¬Â

He added that refunds are possible by emailing Mikael@comeoutwithpride.org, as the ticket purchase agreement stated that if an artist was to cancel, half of the ticket price would be refunded â┚¬Å”because artists are only a small portion of the events.â┚¬Â

Audebert said refunds are being handled case by case.

Saturday night's performance by Deborah Cox is still a go.

There's absolutely going to be no more changes,â┚¬Â Audebert said.  â┚¬Å”At this point everyone has been reconfirmed and re-reconfirmed.â┚¬Â

Tickets are still available at PrideInConcert.com.
