ALSO Out Youth is looking for area adults to serve as mentors to the youth population that it serves in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The Youth Development Committee of ALSO has proposed a mentoring program where adults with special interests offer guidance to LGBT youth in specific areas.
According to a press release, theater, sports, crafts and films are just a few of the areas where mentors could serve the community and take local youth to experience specific activities related to their specialties. To avoid costs, the committee is setting up a special fund to use for the mentorship activities. Those interested in donating may send a check to ALSO Out Youth, 1470 Blvd. of the Arts, Sarasota, Fl., 34236. Organiers ask that donors write â┚¬Å”Mentor programâ┚¬Â on the memo line of the check.
â┚¬Å”We believe this will be a wonderful experience for both the youth and adults involved,â┚¬Â said executive director Sue Westcott. â┚¬Å”This gives them a chance to bond and have fun.â┚¬ÂÂ
