A florist who is the target of lawsuits for refusing to provide flowers for a same-sex wedding has filed has her own lawsuit against Washington state.
Barronelle Stutzman of Arlene’s Flowers claims the state is violating her religious beliefs. The Tri-City Herald reports that attorneys for Alliance Defending Freedom, a legal ministry, filed the suit Thursday in Benton County Superior Court on behalf of Stutzman.
The lawsuits stem from an incident in March when Stutzman refused to provide flowers to a long-time client because she said same-sex marriage was against her personal beliefs.
Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson and the American Civil Liberties Union have since filed suit against the florist.
