DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — The largest military base in Ohio is holding a lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender run as part of a diversity and inclusion initiative by the Department of Defense.
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base says in a release that the 5K Diversity Color Run July 16 is open to everyone and will cost participants $10 each. Those taking part in the run are encouraged to wear white T-shirts.
The event will be at the Rod and Gun Club on the base near Dayton.
The run celebrates LGBT Pride Month. The Department of Defense added LGBT Pride Month as an annual observance each June to be celebrated by U.S. Armed Forces’ military and civilian members.
The run in Ohio was previously scheduled for June but was postponed due to bad weather.
