Metro Wellness and Community Centers are officially home owners as Metropolitan Charities, Inc. in partnership with Comprehensive Care Centers, Inc. closed on the purchase of the 47,000 square feet St. Petersburg location April 20.
The purchase will allow Metro to expand from their current use of 18,000 square feet to nearly 30,000 square feet. The added 12,000 square feet will accommodate additional intake, exam and treatment rooms for Metro’s many medical and clinical services. In addition, they will utilize some of the space to expand the community center rooms as well.
The remaining space in the building may be used as rental space to help bring in some more funds for Metro.
“The rest we have some different plans for, for part of which we are looking at some revenue making options. There are a lot of smaller offices that I think we will probably rent out,” Metro Chief Executive Officer Lorraine Langlois said in a February interview with Watermark.
Metro has a fundraising reception planned April 28 at the newly purchased building. Metro is hoping to raise funds to assist with the extensive building updates including replacing the roof, HVAC system and many of the buildings windows.
