Streetcar Charlie’s files for bankruptcy
The rumored financial troubles circulating around Streetcar Charlie’s in Ybor City are true. According to the Hillsborough Clerk of Courts, the owners of the LGBT eatery have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization after it revealed it owes $120,000 in sales taxes. Managers of the company are listed as Charles Moresi and The Atticus Group Inc. That group includes James L. Clark and Eric Watson as its officers. According to a property search through the Hillsborough Clerk of Courts Web site, the building currently occupied by Streetcar Charlie’s is owned by Focaccia Mia Management Inc. It’s unclear whether the recent debut of Hamburger Mary’s is to blame for the financial problems facing Charlie’s, which is on 15th Street.
Minyon named Hamburger Mary’s new manager
It looks like timing was working in favor of Melanie Minyon. The Tampa Bay WAVE hostess and former Streetcar Charlie’s manager has moved her employment to Hamburger Mary’s in Ybor City. The delicious diva and WAVE winning entertainer can now be spotted hanging with customers and entertainers on the second floor of the Centro Ybor complex.
Laugher in Paradise packs a crowd
It was a larger crowd this year at Laughter in Paradise, the official St. Pete Pride comedy event held at the Sirata Beach Resort on Sunday, June 20. Lesbian comedian Christine O’Leary had the crowd in stitches as she discussed the differences between typical lesbian stereotypes. “There are three kinds of lesbians,” the New Englander panned. “There are lipstick lesbians, which is what I am. There are Chap Stick lesbians, which don’t want the color. And then there are Blistex lesbians who won’t put anything phallic shaped up to their mouths.” The former Watermark cover girl got the crowd in great spirits before Varla Jean Merman took the stage and showcased her outrageous outfits and played several pre-recorded videos. Merman even debuted her newest “Varla Eats Out” video, which will be added to her YouTube site sometime in the near future.
