Two gay-friendly organizations burglarized

Thieves targeted both Haven of Hope AIDS Ministry and The Gathering Center on Aug 29, making off with computers, food and other items. According to police reports, suspects kicked in the front door of The Gathering Center, a “safe space” for LGBTs of all races located on West Colonial.

The thief took a desktop computer, a safe containing two laptop computers and $400 in miscellaneous gift cards. About 15 minutes later, someone smashed the front door of Haven of Hope AIDS Ministry, also located on West Colonial. There, the suspect took “miscellaneous food items.” Police say there are no suspects at this time. Based on the timing and proximity it’s possible the crimes could have been committed by the same person, but police say right now, there’s nothing to link the two burglaries.
