Dance Like a Star
Be still our beating, ballroom-dancing hearts. According to local ballroom dance instructor James Williard, Dancing With the Stars hunk Tony Dovolani is thinking about bringing his fiery dance moves to Orlando. Williard attended the recent Ballroom Dance Channel “Superstars of the Ballroom Dance Camp 2011” in Burbank, Calif., where Doviani was both instructor and judge. The two became fast friends, and talked about Dovolani opening a local dance studio with Williard at the helm. Williard says they’ll reconnect next month in Los Angeles, where Dovolani will tape the 12th season of DWTS. The Kosovo native made his DWTS debut in Season 2, when he was paired up with professional wrestler Stacy Keibler. He also had a featured role in the hit film Shall We Dance, and spent time coaching Jennifer Lopez.
I Wanna Be A Star
Looking for a way to break into show biz? StirfryTV has apprenticeship opportunities for one male and one female to appear in an online TV show produced weekly in front of a live audience at P-House’s Footlight Theatre. Candidates have to be young (18-24) and local, but there are additional qualities sought: outgoing, articulate, opinionated and informed; familiar with YouTube and social networking; and comfortable on stage, on camera and with adult subject matter. Candidates will be asked to promote themselves in front of a panel and participate in a group discussion like on The View. From the sound of it, those chosen will be asked to critique film clips and laugh at director Michael Wanzie’s quips. Auditions are throughout the day on Saturday, Feb. 19. Email info to Wanzie@stirfryTV.com.

Lee James Floral Designs has moved to the City Arts Factory, 29 S. Orange Ave. in downtown Orlando. And in a mingling of talents that seems obvious, the space will also be an art gallery. The first show at Lee James Gallery is “Boudoir”, featuring sexy retro-inspired paintings by Cheryl Turner. * Unconfirmed rumor of the week: Universal Orlando’s City Walk is thinking about bringing back a Gay Night. * Ranger Rick’s Pet Outpost and Retreat is moving north, near the intersection of Orlando Ave. (17-92) and Minnesota Ave. in Winter Park. Once again, business and life partners Rick Merrifield and Michael Fried are redefining pet care and boarding with a huge new warehouse facility that will include an indoor dog park.
