Organizers of Sarasota Pride held a special T-Dance at The Loft on Sunday, July 17, to thank returning sponsors and to unveil its brand new website.
According to board chairwoman Cindy Barnes, Tropicana returned as a presenting sponsor with a $10,000 donation to the annual celebration. Also returning as a volunteer sponsor is The Power of One, from Venice, Fla.
The annual celebration, dubbed â┚¬Å”Still Out and Proudâ┚¬Â for 2011, will return to its outdoor location in downtown Sarasota on Saturday, Oct. 22 this year and will incorporate a few changes. Among them, according to Barnes, festival attendees will no longer have to cross a busy intersection to get from the vendor area to the main stage and dunking booth.
The new website at SarasotaPride.org, is more user friendly and has information for organizations interested in sponsoring or participating in the 2011 festival. An upcoming calendar of events is also getting updated constantly, according to Barnes.
Upcoming events include â┚¬Å”Butchlesque,â┚¬Â an all women's dance, contest, fashion show and fundraiser and the Fabulous Independent Film Festival. Both are slated for Saturday, Aug. 27.
Sarasota Pride is still searching for volunteers and potential board members and invites the community to attend its open, monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month in the upstairs conference room at Selby Library. The meetings start at 6:30 p.m.
