Boynton Beach couple asked to remove rainbow flag

A gay couple living in a Boynton Beach trailer park said that their landlord forced them to remove a gay pride flag displayed at the front of their home.

Dave Armstrong told WPBF 25 News when he and his partner into a trailer home a few months ago, nobody complained about the rainbow flag. Now, however, it’s on the patio floor.

“I think we’re being discriminated against because we’re a gay couple (who) live there,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong said his partner called him and told him someone had removed the flag. He said the first thing he did was call his landlord.

“I said, ‘Listen, everybody else has an American flag on the front of their property, so why can’t I have my pride flag right out here,'” Armstrong said.

Armstrong said he was told to display the flag in the back of the property because some of the other residents had started to complain.

“You know, the snowbirds, I guess, have this upper hand,” Armstrong told the television station.

Armstrong’s landlord said it doesn’t matter to her that Armstrong, who is living on a month-to-month lease, is gay. She said he’s just trying to disrupt the community.
