Monica Moore takes ASAP crown
The Annual Miss ASAP Pageant packed Hemingway’s Restaurant within the Flamingo Resort on April 6 as four contestants vied for the coveted title. But it was Monica Moore who walked away with the crown after a nearly three-hour display of pageantry, talent, special entertainment and raffles. The night was emceed by ASAP’s own Jay Aller, who kept things moving with the drawings, a costume change including a pink leather harness and, more seriously, taking a rapid HIV test live on stage. Miss ASAP 2013 Anjila Cavalier sang live during her final number as the title holder and proudly pinned this year’s crown on Moore at the end of the night. Moore will now be required to appear with ASAP at Pride events, official ASAP events and she will host fundraisers for the HIV/AIDS organization.
Make that the “award-winning” Jorge Show
The Jorge Show is gaining traction in a big way! The cable access talk show began its second season last month and on April 4, it secured its first-ever award at the Regional Talkie Awards held at the Tampa Pitcher Show! Jorge Alvarado, host, interviews various celebrities from throughout Tampa Bay and caught the eye of the Talkies, which honors New Media creations, like his show, which is also web-based. The show won “favorite talk show,” of course, and the filmed reaction of the Jorge Show crew is hilariously posted on YouTube. It’s obvious the show was shocked by the win. If you watch the clip, keep the volume low—their screams of delight are quite deafening! Congratulations to the entire crew at The Jorge Show. For details, visit TheJorgeShow.com.

Things get rolling at 9 p.m. and will continue until the bar closes at 3 p.m. This is a ticketed event—$5 in advance, $10 at the door. Order online through the Liquid Tampa 2 Year Anniversary event page on Facebook.
Six years and going strong
Gay St. Pete House celebrated its sixth anniversary in the best, traditional way proprietor Brian Longstreth likes mark an occasion—with a pool party. The packed party on April 6 brought men (and a few women) to the guest house’s pool on 5th Avenue North in St. Petersburg. A spread of barbecued burgers and hot dogs, summer-style sides and drinks was accompanied by party music poolside. Longstreth encouraged guests to bring their own swimming attire and jump in the pool, which many did. And for those who forgot to bring pool-appropriate wear, he had a store ready to accommodate the latest fashions. Congrats on six great years!
